Awal tahun menjadi musimnya penghargaan bagi insan film dunia. Meskipun tidak begitu berjaya di Golden Globe, 'Mad Max: Fury Road' menang banyak di ajang Critic Choice Awards 2016.
Film arahan sutradara George Miller itu berhasil memenangkan 9 piala dari 13 nominasi. Diantara penghargaan yang paling bergengsi adalah Best Action Movie, Best Editing, Best Design dan Best Visual Effects.
Miller sendiri menyabet piala Best Director. Sedangkan dua bintang utamanya Tom Hardy dan Charlize Theron menang Best Actor dan Best Actress untuk film action.
Selain 'mad Max', film 'Spotlight' dan 'The Big Short' juga mendapatkan lebih dari satu piala. 'Spotlight' menang kategori Best Picture, Best Acting Ensemble dan Best Original Screenplay Awards.
Sementara 'The Big Short' menang di kategori Best Adapted Screenplay dan Best Comedy. Salah satu bintang utamanya Christian Bale bahkan menang Best Actor in Comedy.
