Parasite berhasil mengumpulkan pendapatan US$ 14,59 juta sejak dirilis pada 7 Februari lalu di Inggris. Hasil itu melewati film The Passion of the Christ garapan mel Gibson.
Passion of the Christ sempat dirilis dengan bahasa Hebrew dan Latin pada 2004. Saat itu film tersebut mencetak pemasukan US$ 14,56 juta.
“This weekend we're celebrating the fact that Bong Joon Ho's universally acclaimed #Parasite has now become the highest grossing foreign language film in UK box office history,” tulis distributor film Parasite Curzon Artificial Eye di akun Twitternya.
Sebelumnya Parasite mendapat 4 Piala Oscar di Academy Awards 2020. Selain Best Picture, Bong Joon Ho juga menang Best Director.
Pendapatan film asal Korea Selatan ini sudah mencapai US$ 257 juta di seluruh dunia.
