Pet Shop Boys berencana merilis kompilasi berisi materi lagu yang terdapat dalam side-b album-album miliknya tahun depan.
Album kompilasi yang diberi nama "Format" ini berisi 38 lagu-lagu side-b serta lagu bonus dari tahun 1996 hingga 2009.
Pet Shop Boys yang merupakan kolaborasi dua sekawan yakni Neil tenant dan Chris Lowe akan merilis album tersebut melalui label rekaman Parlophone pada 6 Februari 2012.
Mereka telah merekam ulang keseluruhan lagu side-b tersebut ke dalam piringan hitam. Album itu akan dilengkapi dengan buku kecil berisi petikan wawancara penulis Jon Savage dengan Neil dan Chris.
Pada 1995, duo Neil dan Chris juga telah merilis album kompilasi lagu-lagu side-b berjudul "Alternative" yang berisikan materi lagu dari tahun 1985 hingga 1994.
Pet Shop Boys sukses menjual lebih dari 100 juta keping cd di seluruh dunia. Mereka menyabet berbagai macam penghargaan dan tercatat dalam The Guinness Book of Records sebagai band duo tersukses dalam sejarah industri musik Inggris.
Sejauh ini, mereka telah merilis sepuluh album antara lain Please (1986), Actually (1987), Introspective (1988), Behaviour (1990), Very (1993), Bilingual (1996), Nightlife (1999), Release (2002), Fundamental (2006), dan Yes (2009).
Neil dan Chris juga dikabarkan tengah menggarap album kesebelas mereka yang akan dirilis kepasaran musim gugur tahun depan.
